The Story of Wesak

The story of Wesak begins with the birth of Prince Siddhartha on the full moon of Taurus. It was prophesied by all the sages except one that this boy would grow to become the Emperor of Kings - or the greatest Teacher of all times. His father fearing his son would renounce everything in the pursuit of spirituality, ensured his son grew up knowing only happiness and the pleasures of life.

But there came a day the Prince saw and was puzzled by people suffering from old age, disease and death. He also saw a sage walking by - filled with peace and quiet serenity. From then on, the Prince knew no peace. He began to understand that everyone one day had to suffer from old age, disease and death and that nothing in life was permanent. Out of his compassion for humanity, he set out to find the answer to these riddles in order to help himself and others.

He renounced everything he had and set off to practise the most severe austerities for years at an end. At the end of 6 years practise, he had pushed his body to the limit - but still no result! And then he overheard a music teacher giving instructions to his student - "This tambura can produce very good music - but observe - if the wires are stretched too tight, they will snap. If they are tied loosely, they will play no music for you at all. " Hearing this, he realised that the way to enlightenment was the Middle Path.

With renewed vigour, he sat under the Bodhi tree and meditated - Mara, or Illusion, tempted him with everything big and small but nothing could awaken the monk from his ceaseless meditation. Finally, Mara appeared before the monk and offered him anything he desired - if he only gave up this search for enlightenment. But the monk refused knowing that even what Mara offered was impermanent and would only bring further suffering. This proved to be the final test of all - and having passed this successfully, he became the 'Buddha' or the World Teacher of all men and sentient beings on earth.

During his remaining years, He spent His time spreading the Teachings of Light or Dharma throughout the whole of the Indian sub continent. It is said that thousands of His disciples achieved Arhatship in the 40-50 years that they spent with the Great Teacher.

In the end, He left His body on the same day He was born and received Enlightenment.

You must be wondering - is this where the story ends? The answer is no!

When we enter into the Pranic Healing school or any other spiritual school for that matter, we discover that learning has no end. We continue to learn spiritually and grow. We are just like students in a big university learning at the entry level. Our Teachers are like our Elder Brothers/Sisters who are learning in higher classes - but they spend some time tutoring us in subjects where we need help because they have been through it all (just like us). But then, who teaches those who teach us the laws of life? Who is the head of them all? If we are like babies in terms of spirituality, then there exist souls who are so far advanced spiritually beyond our levels of comprehension, they are called Holy Masters, Adepts, Maha Chohans and Bodhisattvas - just like our Elder Brothers/Sisters who help us with learning our lessons. But the one Great Being who guides these Beings is called the World Teacher - or Lord Buddha.

Our history goes far beyond the scientifically documented 10000 years of existence. Our worlds have existed for aeons and aeons of time, with each aeon producing a Buddha or a World Teacher to guide and nurture the souls born in that time. Out of the thousands of Buddhas who exist, the Gautama Buddha or Shakyamuni Buddha was the first Buddha produced from the human chain of evolution.

When He was on His death bed, his chief disciples gathered around him and prayed to him - their one wish was that the Lord Buddha would return to Earth again to bless the countless sentient beings. He promised them that every year, at the time of the Wesak, He would appear on Earth for a few minutes at a secret valley somewhere in Tibet. With Him, He would bring the priceless Blessings of the higher realms - everything that the Earth and the countless lives in Her needed for a year.

So every Wesak, in a secret valley somewhere in Tibet, there is a gathering of spiritual aspirants from every corner of the Earth who gather together to witness the reappearance of the World Teacher. Through the World Teacher, innumerable blessings flow down to his Disciples and their disciples and so on, getting stepped down in intensity so that the powerfully potent energies are shared and distributed to all so that every sentient being on Earth receives his or her rightful share - super powerful blessings from the Great Ones meant to last throughout the entire coming year.

Those who cannot join them physically, can still do so on the energy level - be it astrally, mentally or spiritually (depending on the development of the soul) - simply by joining in meditation on that day, at that time and by blessing Mother Earth. Just like how we do with Twin Hearts meditation.

On this day, thousands of Pranic Healers, millions of spiritual aspirants belonging to different esoteric schools will join together in tuning into the presence of the Great Teacher at that precise moment of His return and bring down the tremendous blessings to Mother Earth and every sentient Being in her. To be a part of the step down chain is to contribute your bit in helping the Hierarchy to spread the Light to all the corners of the world of which we are part off. The opportunity to be a part of it is priceless and the good karma generated is tremendous. It also means it is a very good time to bless our goals, plans for the year, request for healing and get our personal items consecrated with special Energies.

So where does the story of Wesak end? It will not end as long as there is a need on Earth for the return of the World Teacher - as long as it takes for the very last sentient Being to reach enlightenment. So join in with the big group at Bangalore, bring along your loved ones and friends - so that we can celebrate this fantastic event together.

White cotton clothes are preferably worn on this occasion - and there is a period of purification for 2 days before the Wesak (May 4th and 5th) by observing a fast or partial fast (with fruits) and there is a period of absorption (again absorbed with a fast. Master Choa used to say in order to give the body time to absorb the energy,  the disciple can take sponge baths to avoid washing off the energy. Regular Twin Hearts, AY practises and character building are also recommended.

For those who have attended other Wesaks, you would have already experienced  how different this meditation felt from your normal Twin Hearts Meditation.
