What people think about you

........does it ever matter? I have come to the conclusion that 90% of the time, it doesn't. Maybe it's because people rarely or never think about you in the first place. Probably 8% think about you - but their opinion of you never matches with who you know you are because you are misunderstood. 1.999% know you, understand you but take you for granted. And the 0.001% who love and cherish you are hard to find. Like looking for the perfect sunflower flower in an endless, golden field of flowers.

Why is it that if you are good to people, people take you for a ride? Why is it that they think they can get away with lying to you in your face, cheating you of what you deserve and try to make YOU feel guilty of the crime of being innocently true to them? Why??

So I said to myself, recently, after seeing how people can abuse the naive trust and friendship you place in their hands - it's not worth it to expect anything from people even when you have given it your best shot. Not a cent. Not a penny. Not a bit. It's paradoxically funny - the amount of respect people give you is not how much respect you give THEM but how much you respect YOURSELF.
